UV Printing Machines
Short answer
A flatbed UV printer lays down ink and cures it at once with UV light, so it prints on card, film, metal and made-up objects. HORFON supplies two. The HF-UV1290 is set up for packaging: four Epson i3200 heads, 13 inks including varnish and foil oil, on a 1200 × 900 mm bed for stock up to 100 mm thick. The HF-UV1210 is set up for crafts and gifts: a lifting platform takes objects up to 350 mm high on a 1200 × 1000 mm bed.
Overview
Finishes added by printing, not by tooling.
A flatbed UV printer jets ink onto the work and cures it immediately under UV light. Because the ink is cured rather than absorbed, it holds on coated card, film and metal as well as plain paper, and it can be built up in layers. White ink goes under colour on dark or metallic stock; varnish goes on top as a gloss, a frosted finish or a texture.
For packaging that means effects which normally need a plate, a screen or a die can be printed directly, sheet by sheet, and changed from one job to the next. HORFON supplies two flatbed machines, set up for different work. They are supporting equipment, sold alongside the box making range.
