How to choose

Four questions, in this order.

  1. 01

    Start from the box

Structure decides the process. A lid-and-base box, a book-style box and a collapsible box go through different machines, so pick the box type first.

See the six box types →
  2. 02

    Decide which steps to automate

Gluing and wrapping are done by machine either way. The choice is whether the shell is positioned on the paper by hand or by camera and robot.

    Automatic vs semi-automatic →
  3. 03

    Match the speeds

A line runs at the speed of its slowest machine. Compare the rated speed of each step before adding capacity anywhere else.

How a rigid box line is built →
  4. 04

    Check sizes and power

Every machine page lists the largest and smallest job, the board and paper it takes, voltage, air supply, weight and footprint.

FAQ

Questions about the range.

How many machines does HORFON supply?

36 machines in 15 categories. 12 categories are rigid box equipment, including collapsible box, rigid box making, case making and visual positioning. 3 are supporting equipment: carton erecting, sealing and palletizing, die cutting and UV printing.

Which machines make a lid-and-base rigid box?

The semi-automatic set is four machines: the HF-1200 V grooving machine, the HF-500 corner pasting machine, the HF-850A paper gluing machine and the HF-450 box forming machine, running 15–20 pieces per minute. The HF-5040 does corner taping, gluing, camera positioning and wrapping in one machine at 18–25 pieces per minute.

Which machines position by camera?

The HF-1050 visual positioning line, the HF-550 case maker, the HF-8020 side wing machine and the HF-5040 rigid box machine all position to ±0.1 mm by camera. The HF-1150 collapsible box assembly machine uses three vision stations.

Which machines run on 220 V and which need 380 V?

6 machines need 380 V: HF-1150, HF-8020, HF-1050, HF-5040, HF-850A and HF-550. 23 machines list 220 V: HF-800D, HF-450, HF-500, HF-40, HF-1200, HF-900, HF-8288, HF-808, HF-4350, HF-3250, HF-650, HF-FA500, HF-30Pro, HF-320, HF-320A, HF-600B, HF-600A, HF-7090ZK, HF-600, HF-UV1210, HF-440, HF-100 and HF-500B. The specification table on each machine page gives the voltage, power and air supply.

Can I buy one machine, or only a complete line?

Either. Each machine works on its own, so a line can be bought in one order or built in stages. The box type pages show which machines make up a line and which machine sets its speed.

Does HORFON supply consumables for these machines?

Yes: greyboard for box and case panels, hot melt jelly glue for the gluing machines, and PVC tape for the corner pasting machines. Grades and sizes are confirmed with each quotation.
