Short answer

Curled-edge round boxes start as paper tubes. The HF-500B wraps the label around the tube at 40 pcs/min, the HF-440 curls the rim at 30–50 pcs/min, and the HF-100 presses in the lid or base.

Overview

A paper tube becomes a box.

A curled-edge round box starts as a paper tube. A printed wrap is pasted around the tube, the rim is curled over so the cut edge is hidden and the opening is stiffened, and a disc is pressed in to close the base or to make the lid. Tea, food and cosmetic tubes are made this way.

The three machines here do one step each. The HF-500B feeds the wrap and pastes it around the tube. The HF-440 curls the rim inward or outward, through 180° or a full 360°. The HF-100 presses the lid or base disc in.

How to choose

4 things to settle first.

    Tube diameter

    The HF-500B takes tubes of 28–130 mm. The HF-440 curls 31–160 mm tubes through 360° and up to 180 mm through 180°. The HF-100 presses lids into tubes of 30–120 mm.

    Tube height

    The HF-440 takes 30–440 mm for a 360° curl and 30–480 mm for a 180° curl. The HF-100 takes 20–150 mm.

    Wall thickness

    The HF-440 curls tube walls of 0.7–1.5 mm, to ±0.3–0.5 mm.

    Speed

    Labeling runs 40 pcs/min and curling 30–50 pcs/min.

What tube diameters can the curling machine take?

The HF-440 curls tubes of 31–160 mm diameter through 360°, and up to 180 mm through 180°, with wall thickness of 0.7–1.5 mm.

What is the difference between a 180° and a 360° curl?

They are the two curl settings of the HF-440: the rim is turned through half a turn or a full turn, inward or outward. The 360° setting takes tubes of 31–160 mm diameter and 30–440 mm height.
